Mission Impossibleis one of the biggest and most well-known franchises of all time. Tom Cruise, who is at the center of this, is one of the biggest reasons why fans love these films so much. On top of this, there is also the intense action sequences and the high-pressure situations. Despite this and how much fans love this actor, there were two distinct times that he was almost replaced from the franchise, once by Jeremy Renner, and the other time by his own love interest, Rebecca Ferguson, both of whom have written out of the series.
With this, a hypothetical question of if someone were to replace the actor in this beloved role, who would be the perfect fit? Here are five actors who could possibly replace Cruise in his role of the central character of the Mission Impossible franchise.

5) Scarlett Johansson
Scarlett Johansson would be quite good for theMission Impossiblefranchise. One of the biggest reasons for this is the fact that one of her most well-known roles was that of the Black Widow from the MCU who is an ex-Russian spy, SHEILD agent, and Avenger, which would be quite fitting for this role. On top of this, she is an exceptionally talented actress, who has been a part of a number of critically-acclaimed films.
4) Chris Evans
Chris Evans is best known for his work as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, having left this franchise and not having as much on his plate anymore, he would be an excellent choice for potentially taking the reigns of the Mission Impossible film series from Tom Cruise. On top of this, he is also an extremely talented actor and understands the physical challenges that come with this role.

Charlize Theron is an exceptionally talented actress, been a part of all kinds of genres. Chris Hemsworth is perhaps the perfect person to take over the role of Tom Cruise, and there are many reasons to support this. The actor has played many different types of roles over the course of his career, with the most well-known being that of Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has helped him master the physical challenges that come with acting in action films, making a transition from the MCU to theMission ImpossibleUniverse. While this is certainly an advantage for him, the best reason why he would be fitting for this role is his work in his recent franchise,Extraction.
In this franchise, he plays the role of Tyler Rake, a former Special Air Service Regiment operator, and a black market mercenary, which is perhaps, as close as one can get to the profession of Ethan Hunt. His training and understanding of this profession from this character would be extremely beneficial for this role if he were to be a part of this franchise.
