Fans were introduced to the idea of the multiverse in 2016’sDoctor Strange, though the concept was explored in later phases, and now that things got more complicated, especially with the advent of Kang the Conqueror, a lot of probabilities have also emerged.

New Theory Suggests Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron ManSecret WarsPlot

A fan fromRedditpostulated a theory on howRobert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark can be resurrected and, at the same time, invent a weapon that can destroy the multiverse. Now, this sounds like a far-fetched idea, but everything is possible when it comes to Marvel. The Redditor wrote:

“I was watching Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania this week just cause. It made me think that I know that Kang is wanting to get the multiversal engine core and get revenge due to him being exiled by the Council of Kangs. But what if? the rumors that Iron Man is coming to the MCU.”

The Avengers (2012)

The user probably meant Iron Man gets resurrected, and in this case, he finds the multiversal engine core. This, in layman’s terms, is a power source of the Time Sphere, which allowed Kang the Conqueror to travel across the multiverse. The theory continued:

“If Iron Man can get his hands on Kang’s Multiversal engine core and makes a suit out of his technology or develop a multiversal machine. Similar to Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) Multiversal Bridge.”

The fan speculated that if Tony Stark possessed the power source to make a machine that could rival Reed Richards’ Bridge (Alternate Reality Viewer), then he would become the most powerful hero in the multiverse. Iron Man would be able to observe or enter alternate and parallel worlds.

If Downey Jr.’s iconic character is set to return to the MCU, it will most likely fit inAvengers: Secret Wars, along with the fan theory of him building a multiversal machine.

Will The Original Avengers Return?

There had been a lot of suggestions online on how Marvel Studios could bring back Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man into the fold. With the help of the multiverse, Tony Stark could return as a variant. It remains to be seen whether he will remain a hero or transform into a villain.

Another report fromVarietyalso stated that Marvel Studios has been considering bringing back the original Avengers cast:

“There have been talks to bring back the original gang for an Avengers movie. This would include reviving Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, both of whom were killed off in Endgame. But the studio hasn’t yet committed to the idea — if it were able to bring those actors back, it wouldn’t come cheap.”

Indeed, Downey Jr.’s upfront salary inIron Man 3was more or less $25 million. The possible return of the actor in the MCU remains a hot topic; at this point, fans can only hope that the studio would find a clever way of making his reprisal as epic as possible.
