Reese Witherspoon’s ex-husband and 90’s teen idol, Ryan Phillippe, is a popular name in Hollywood. However, the actor was embarrassed when he was mistaken for Justin Timberlake.
Ryan Phillippe was going through a separation phase with Reese Witherspoon when the incident occurred. He was offended when he was confused with Justin Timberlake by a fan.

Ryan Phillippe was offended by being compared to another teen star
Ryan Phillippe was 32 when he and Reese Witherspoon announced separation. The paparazzi surrounded the pair, and they were followed everywhere. To get some peaceful alone time, the actor flew to Costa Rica. However, an embarrassing situation occurred when he reached there. As per the actor, when he arrived in Costa Rica, some excited fans approached him, but they had mistaken him for another actor.
Phillippe recalled in conversation withThe Guardian,
“They said to me, ‘Excuse me, are you Justin Timberlake?’”
On being asked if he was bothered by his lookalikes, the actor said,
“Not really. Although there’s a great clip from Jay Leno’s Tonight Show [in 2001] when Reese was on and so were ‘NSync, and Justin talks about how he’s often mistaken for me. Then Reese says something like, ‘Well, I think Ryan’s much better looking.’”
“This business is tough, man. You really get beat up in a lot of ways.”
Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe were married for nine years.

Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon’s marriage and divorce
Ryan Phillippe andReese Witherspoonworked together in the filmCruel Intentionsand fell in love during the shoot. The couple got married in 1999, a few months before the birth of their daughter. They also welcomed their son, Deacon, after a few years of their marriage. Both actors were at the peak of their careers when they got married; Phillippe was 25, and Witherspoon was only 23. They were considered the hot couple of the 2000 era.
Phillippe recalled,
“We had some great, great moments, and that might have been the peak of our marriage, kids aside.”
However, the couple shocked their fans when they announced separation in 2007. As per The Guardian, it was rumored that Phillippe’s infidelity led to divorce. The couple divorced in 2008, and share joint custody of their children. Over the years, Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon have managed to remain friends with each other.
