Sam Worthington is an incredibly well-known actor, having starred in many successful films likeClash of the Titans, Terminator Salvation, The Shack, andMan on a Ledge. Despite these, however, the star is perhaps most well-known for his work in the most successful film series of all time,Avatar, starring as the protagonist inAvatarandAvatar: The Way of Water. Having received immense critical acclaim for these films, it is quite surprising to find out how the actor actually feels about the franchise.

It is quite common for actors who partake in a major or memorable role in a widely successful franchise, to start to resent the recognition for it. There may be many reasons for this, be it because they do not like the role that they are associated with or the fact that they simply want to be recognized for more than just one character in a wide array of projects they have been a part of. What we can speculate on is the fact that Worthington may be one of these celebrities.

Does Sam Worthington Feel Overshadowed By His Work With James Cameron?
Even thoughSam Worthingtonhas been part of one of the most successful franchises of all time, being part of two of the highest-grossing films ever, he has become seemingly unknown outside of this, not given much recognition in mainstream media. This is quite unique to him as his co-star and love interest in the films, Zoe Saldana, has received an immense amount of recognition.
After her work inAvatar, the actress became part of some very successful projects. Appearing inStar Trek,The Adam Project, and most famously Marvel Cinematic Universe as Gamora, Saldana became the only actress ever to be part of three projects that have earned more than $2 billion at the box office.

Worthington on the other hand, has found it quite difficult to establish himself as an actor outside of this franchise, having his second most successful project be the fourth Terminator film, Terminator Salvation, which made a total of $370 million in its box office earnings.

Both the actors were told about the number of projects they had been part of since the release of the first Avatar film, with Worthington having been part of twenty-two films and Saldana’s number being twenty-five different films.
Both the stars were quite surprised at this number, and Saldana stated that it felt more like five films to her, perhaps making a small comment on the number of these films that have actually been successful. It was here when Worthington joked that twenty-one of these twenty-two films never came out.
