For our Insect Glaive build, we aimed to tackle two of the major downsides of the weapon type —lower base damageand difficulty in controlling the weapon’s attacks. The first order of business for any Insect Glaive build is to buff the elemental damage, which we did usingParalysis AttackLevel 3.
We used an Artian Insect Glaive with Paralysis status. The reason behind choosing paralysis is that it’s quite effective against some of the toughest endgame monsters in Monster Hunter Wilds (includingTempered ArkveldandTempered Gore Magala). Furthermore, we also usedCritical StatusLevel 3 andStamina ThiefLevel 3 to further boost the weapon’s efficiency.

Increased Elemental Damage
Elemental damageis a forte of the Insect Glaive, and to capitalize on that, we’ve used bothParalysis AttackandCritical Statusskills in the build. Paralysis Attack boosts the overall status damage and build-up speed (Paralysis). Whereas Critical Status increases the elemental (status) damage dealt with each critical hit.

However, given the speed of Insect Glaive’s attacks,5% Affinityshould be more than enough to land quite a few critical hits. Immobilize Monsters
Controlling the Insect Glaive, especially in midair, is quite difficult. The Vault combos, if not timed properly, can often leave you vulnerable and result in you missing your attacks. To help you land successful hits on the monster, we’ve used the Stamina Thief skill. Stamina Thief essentially exhausts monsters, slowing them down significantly and making it easier for you to land your attacks.
Furthermore, once exhausted, a monster often cannot use its more powerful attacks, which grants you a passive defensive boost. In addition to Stamina Thief, Paralysis Attack also helps immobilize monsters by, well, “paralyzing” them, momentarily.

Wounds are an essential part of Monster Hunter Wilds’ combat. To help create wounds much easier, we’re usingPartbreakeras well asFlayer. Furthermore, to capitalize on the damage dealt by wounds, we’re also usingWeakness Exploit, which works incredibly well for elemental builds. Wounds are also a great way to inflict status blights on monsters, which then allows you to easily exhaust or paralyze them.
