Christopher Nolan Refused to Reshoot Any Scenes inInterstellar
There is no secret thatChristopher Nolanis costly when he designs a scene, he is known for making it real. Speaking of the experience working with Nolan, the lead actor of the film,Matthew McConaugheysaid that Nolan is a true leader.“I’ve never worked with a better leader.”
“I cannot say I’ve ever worked with a better problem solver and have the problems he just saw was by pure will that everything must keep moving forward keep moving forward,”McConaughey said.
The actor further added that Nolan“never goes backwards”and he“won’t go reshoot anything.”
“Even if he found out something was wrong I don’t think he would reshoot it […] Conceptually he’s able to realize things on screen to actually put them up therein a larger and more awe-inspiring scope than any other director that I know or I’ve seen,”the actor added.
Initially, McConaughey thoughtInterstellarwould be like a small independent film as they were shooting the“personal stuff”consisting of the majority of the movie’s runtime. It was after a few takes, the actor understood the gravity of the film’s grand picture.The Gentlemenactor also iterated that Nolan is not a perfectionist as he believed earlier.“He actually wants the imperfections and you take as much time as you need,”the actor said. Perhaps, Joker’s iconic hospital bombing scene inThe Dark Knight Riseswas the result of it.

Nolan is a gentleman, there’s no debate over it. In fact, his actors are very fond of him, and over the years many wished to be featured in his films. McConaughey thinks Nolan has a great sense of humor,“which not many people know he’s got a killer sense of humor,”McConaughey said.
Jessica Chastainwho played the adult version of Murph inInterstellaralso opined about the director saying“he’s really is a genius.”But working with Nolan is very different than other directors.“Working with Christopher you’re there to work, there is no complaining, there is not like you’re in extreme situations and you just go through it,”Chastain said.
“You just go through it like Ann was in ice water you know up to her shoulders whatever. She went through it, Matthew’s on the glacier not being able to look down because he’s in the space suit. I was getting dust chucked in my face every day and you just you that’s your job you’re doing it,”Chastain added.
Before appearing inInterstellarAnne Hathawaycollaborated with the director inThe Dark Knight Risesas Catwoman. Talking to Total Film’s Matt Risley, Hathaway said that Nolan is“one of my favorite directors to work with.”
“And I have a really good part which he wrote so, um, I just couldn’t have been more flattered and you know just to it’s great to work with your friends and it’s sowonderful to get to work on great movies and so that… I’m blushing thinking about it, excuse me. So that one was just, um, just yes joy wonderful pleasure all around,”Hathaway said.
Interstellarwas Nolan’s passion project and was very personal to him. The movie has grossed $773.8 million at the box office with five Oscar win.
