While it is quite a sight to have seen Benedict Cumberbatch take on the role of Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, die-hard fans of the British actor would kill to see him star in the character of Sherlock Holmes once again. When that time may come, you never know, but apparently, it depends on one familiar face.
Yes, the missing piece that disallows a reunion of the BBC mystery-crime drama,Sherlock,is none other than the absence of Martin Freeman in the role of Holmes’ closest friend, Dr. John Watson. The main problem here is that the two brilliant co-stars do not like each other at all! Or so fans say.

We’ll never know because the end of the popular TV series was quite a messy event. The actors started having scheduling conflicts, the plot was running out of juice, and the quality of the series as a whole went downhill after the third season.
That alone makes up enough reason to at least consider binning a show that has earned critical and fan acclaim ever since its release in 2010, let alone the numerous Emmys and BAFTA nominations it has rightfully achieved.
But apparently, there is hope. The showrunner ofSherlock,Steven Moffat,revealed that he wouldn’t mind writing the long-awaited fifth season of the hit TV series while talking about a second season of another work of his-Inside Man.But there is one condition.

Speaking to Deadline about a fifth season ofSherlock, the 61-year-old said he would“start writing tomorrow”given the main stars of the mystery-crime series- Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman would return in their respective roles as crime-solving partners Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson. He then made a hilarious remark, adding-
“They’re on to bigger and better things but, Martin and Benedict, ‘please come back?’,”
That’s honestly a very convincing reason to even start writing the fifth season of the TV series, and fans would definitely want the lead stars to reprise their roles as well.

Perhaps, it is finally time to bring back the old guard and reviveSherlockonce and for all. It’s been 5 years since fans saw the conclusion of the mystery-crime drama that ended with the titular character confronting his evil sister and arch-nemesis James “Jim” Moriarty.

If the fan rumor that the two main stars hate each other is true, it would be quite a hassle to get Cumberbatch and Freeman to work together again since both are high-profile actors with busy schedules.
