A doctor has now commented on the use of steroids in the MCU after years of speculation, especially in the case of Thor actor Chris Hemsworth.

Marvel characters have gradually transformed their physique through heavy training and strict diets. But many of MCU’s leading men have used performing-enhancing drugs to get muscular physiques on the screen. Undoubtedly, getting in shape isn’t just a piece of cake, and sometimes the actors addressed it as “brutal” sometimes.
But now the doctor has given his opinions about the potential use of drugs in the Marvel Cinematic Universe which helps the Marvel actors to maintain a good shape.

Dr. Todd Schroeder’s Opinion on MCU Actors Possible Drug Use
In an episode ofThe Hot Mic With Jeff and John, Hollywood insider and reliable scooper Jeff Sneider brought up several names that in the recent past have been involved in steroid rage. He mentioned the name ofJonathan Majors(Kang the Conqueror) under this.
But now, in an interview withVanity Fair, Dr. Todd Schroeder shared his opinions on MCU actors like Chris Hemsworth possibly using steroids. He’s an associate professor of clinical physical therapy and heads the University of Southern California Clinical Exercise Research Center at the USC Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy. The doctor said some percentage of Marvel actors are using performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) of some sort to get in shape for the MCU:

“At least for the short term. I would say that fifty to seventy-five percent do.”
Schroeder also emphasized that most actors don’t discuss it openly. But it’s expected and, working under a doctor’s care, it’s really been accepted.

Dr. Todd Schroeder Discusses Challenges of Maintaining MCU Physique With Aging
Schroeder said that “as you grow older,” keeping up the Marvel superhero physique becomes tougher. The doctor feels for these actors who age while trying to maintain their super-powered appearance in the franchise. He says in the same interview withVanity Fair:
“Especially as you get older. Like Robert Downey Jr., all the Iron Man [movies] he’s done, and some of them he’s gotten in really good shape for, but maintaining that is challenging. It’s a tough, tough world out there. What people expect of you and how you need to look, and trying to maintain that. I feel for these actors, especially if you’re in a Marvel role, where you’re going to be in multiple films.”

With this statement, the doctor means to say that no matter how much heavy training you do, maintaining that physique when you get old is hard. People expect more from these actors, but they don’t understand that, in reality, their favorite Marvel characters (likeRobert Downey Jr.) are aging, too.
Also, in Shcroder’s professional opinion, he said, “No, he does not [use steroids],” in the case ofChris Hemsworth‘s drug use. The doctor said he could thank “his genetics” for that. But not all celebrities’ bodies respond to working out the way Hemsworth’s does.
