The fate of DC is far from altering, the studio had very little room for hope for success from the most recent releaseBlue Beetle. But after the failure of the conspicuously preparedThe Flash, Blue Beetlemet the same fate as the Ezra Miller movie.

Undoubtedly, superhero movies are by default, very expensive to make. Angel Manuel Soto’s Blue Beetle was made with a whopping $104 million budget and the box office numbers show that James Gunn’s DC is still struggling to see a rising sun lighting up in the darkness surrounding the studio.

Blue Beetle: Another DC Flop
James Gunn’smagic is far from setting up at DC in the mission to rescue the studio’s back-to-back failure. The DC co-head has not seen any noteworthy success after his takeover and the most recent superhero flick was nowhere close to aiding the sinking ship of the DC.
TheXolo Maridueña-led movie certainly had a fresh angle to sell tickets but it did not work to gross over the significant line of success. So far, the movie has earned over $100 million but there is a long way to go for profit. As per Collider,Blue Beetleopened with $26 million in the domestic release collecting a total of $43 million with its international releases. Based on these numbers, the film was expected to earn between $140 million and $170 million at the global box office but it would be a miracle if that happens at this point in time. Also, the movie would need about $208 million in total collection just to recover the money that the studio invested.

AsAngel Manuel Soto’sBlue Beetleis struggling at the box office to recover the due, the fans online have responded to the movie’s $100 million mark.

The Online Response toBlue Beetle
Blue Beetlewas received well by many fans and the Rotten Tomatoes score of 78% suggests the fact the critical response is noteworthy as well. Also, considering the far too little marketing and promotion of the movie it is fair to assume that it was affected by the SAG-AFTRA strike. Although the official information regarding the marketing of the movie is under wraps, a strategic marketing campaign was never seen in public considering the extensive marketing of the previous DC movieThe Flash. As for the online response to the movie hitting $100 million, fans are concerned about the movie.
Doing well considering how horribly it was marketed

One user is concerned about the success of the movie
100mil only is not good
— Lukas (@LukasBoii)July 10, 2025
Another referred to the strike for the lesser marketing
Wasn’t that bc of the writers strike?

Predicting the future one wrote about the earnings of the movie
Amazing.. everyone predicted 40m lifetime this is good
— Item (@ltemboyy_)July 19, 2025
Another expects the continuation of theBlue Beetlesaga
Very good, so maybe we could still see a continuation of this story.
— Kamal Tiwari (@Kams28)June 04, 2025
As of now, there is no indication that the movie will see a sequel. Released on 21 June 2025, the movie has a little room for a few more millions but it is highly unlikely that it would break even. And without the much-needed success, DC might now go for another solo installment continuing with the new superhero.
