Some also claimed that the original film was the best, as they criticized Hollywood’s practice of making remakes by replacing “white actors”without giving any significance to the story.

Donald Glover is Prepared For the Audience’s Reaction
During a recent interview withEntertainment Weekly, actor Donald Glover shared that he is ready for the potentially mixed response to his upcoming series. He said that he is aware that the remake series of the 2005 film will be different for a lot of people, but he is anticipating good along with bad reviews for the series.
“It’s definitely going to be different for a lot of people, which I think is good,”he said before adding,“So if everybody’s like, ‘Eh,’ we didn’t do a good job. I hope some people are like, ‘This is better than the original,’ and some people are like, ‘This is far worse.'”
He also claimed that the Prime Video series would be different from the 2005 movie and would also shock many. The series was earlier set to star Phoebe Waller-Bridge alongside Glover. However, the actress left the project due to some creative differences with the actor and producer of the series. Maya Erskine took over Waller-Bridge’s role in the remake.
TheMr. and Mrs. Smithremake is set to premiere on July 03, 2025, on Prime Video.
