Over the years, many actors have played the role of Batman. Every person has formed different opinions as every Batman movie had its own sets of pros and cons. Ben Affleck was DCEU’s last Batman while Robert Pattinson is the caped crusader in Matt Reeves’ universe.

After Christian Bale announced that his days as Batman are over, the next actor to play the character had to meet the high expectations. Ben Affleck first appeared as Batman in 2016’sBatman v. Superman: Dawn of Justiceand played the role in four more movies but does the actor like his character? Well, the answer is yes, he is such a huge fan that he had a Batcave in his house.

In the early 2010s, there were speculations that Warner Bros has decided to cast actorBen Affleckfor the role of Batman. At the time, a lot of people criticized the decision while many defended it, including director Kevin Smith. In 2013, Smith appeared on theHollywood Babble-On podcastand explained that when he visited Affleck’s house in 2001 he saw something crazy.
As per the director, Affleck took him into a room that had “a beautiful bookcase.” Smith told him, “That’s nice, a lot of books,” Affleck then clicked a hidden button and the bookcase started moving opening up the entrance to a room.

Smith explained his reaction, “You built a f***ing Batcave.” Affleck then added, “I built a Batcave entrance.” It was revealed that the overall cost of the entrance was $50,000. There was a panic room behind the entrance with a TV, phone, and some furniture.

In the same interview, Smith explained why Ben Affleck agreed to do 2003’sDaredevil. Smith also added that Affleck has admired Batman for a very long time,
“This dude has loved Batman going as far back as I can remember. He only did fing Daredevil because he loved Frank Miller’s Dark Knight Returns. He’s like, ‘They’re never going to make another Batman,’ because this was after Batman had nipples and s like that. So he was like, ‘Daredevil’s cool, and Miller wrote him as well.’ So he liked the character, but it was always rooted in Batman.”

Affleck has played the iconic role in 5 movies,Suicide Squad(2016),Justice League(2017),Zack Snyder’s Justice League(2021),Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice(2016), andThe Flash(2023).

Ben Affleck’s Batman was very different from what had been done previously in theDark Knighttrilogy and other Batman versions. Affleck’s Batman tone was much darker and more aggressive.
