As James Gunn sets up to take DC Films into a new direction along with his co-CEO Peter Safran, the old DCEU has to be sacrificed in order for something new to emerge. With the release ofShazam! But before that could even happen, the management shifted and James Gunn started dismantling the DCEU, removing major players from the cinematic universe like firingHenry Cavillas Superman for a younger version of the superhero in the future, along withBen Affleckas Batman.
And with the release of the much-awaitedShazam! Fury of the Gods, people have now started to take a stance against Zachary Levi as well. With the box office performance of the film being a disaster, the audience members are unhappy with the fact that all their anticipation was for nothing. Thus, there have been talks about the idea of changing Levi for another star as the old regime of DC Films is being reshuffled.

WhileThe Suicide Squaddirector might not have made a decision yet about continuing Levi as the protagonist or not, it remains to see what his opinions are after the performance of the film in cinemas.

The mind of James Gunn is something that can churn out masterpieces with relative effort, and his director and comic book fanboy chops definitely make him one of the best people to take the charge of rebuilding the new DCU from the ground up. Already ready with a plan for the new universe titled ‘Gods and Monsters’ which will be the first chapter in the wider narrative, theGuardians of The Galaxydirector would have to make an impression on the audience and the fandom if he wants to succeed.
