2004’sCatwomanwas the first time Hollywood stars Sharon Stone and Halle Berry worked together in a film. Widely regarded as a cinematic misstep,Catwomanfailed to bring out the best of the iconic DC characters due to its undermining plot. With over-the-top visual effects and disappointing action, the film couldn’t popularise Catwoman among the fans, making it a massive financial failure.

Many people who worked on the film have regrets about the film’s production, however, Stone regrets something else: not being able to kiss Halle Berry. Blaming the then-president, Stone added that the opportunity was completely wasted.

Catwomanwas a massive flop
There are a lot of reasons whyCatwoman(2004) was a box office bomb. The iconic DC character had so much potential but it was ruined due to the film’s disappointing plot. Grossing $82 million on a budget of $100 million, it is widely regarded as one of the worst DC films of all time, earning seven Golden Raspberry Award nominations.
Fans complained that the film’s content was nothing like the source material and the character had no connection with Batman. The film really damaged Berry’s reputation as a talented actress, but she had no problems proving herself again. For Berry, the film was quite special as she once explained (viaGlamour),

“Everybody around me said, ‘Girl, don’t do it. It’s going to be the death of you. It’s going to end your career.’ But guess what I did? I followed my intuition and I did a movie called Catwoman and it bombed miserably. While it failed for most people, it wasn’t a failure for me because I met so many interesting people that I wouldn’t have met otherwise, I learned two forms of martial arts and I learned what not to do.”
In the end, Berry took home $14 million as her salary for her work in the movie. While it may have been a massive flop, it certainly taught the Oscar-winning actress some valuable life lessons.
