David Zaslav, the Warner Bros. Discovery CEO, upon his ascension to the new company and accruing his new responsibilities had promised very early on to bring back the signature Warner Bros. classics. Among those are included theHarry PotterandLord of the Ringsfranchises. At the time, the idea that was pitched via an earnings call sounded like a simple idea off the top of his head (he did also mention“taking advantage of Sex and the City”in the same breath). But as more time passes, the ideas are becoming more fully formulated and acquiring a steadily increasing positive response from fans as to their status.

David Zaslav’s PromisedHarry PotterReboot Is En Route
At long last, the commercially and critically successfulHarry Potterfranchise is being reproduced for the screens by Warner Bros. The news – a welcome one at that – has been received fairly positively by the Muggle community and although the franchise will shift into the television format, it can be viewed as a good thing for the Wizarding World. The idea is to adapt the contents of each of the seven books into one entire season. TheHarry Potterseries will then be able to dive into the lore of the mythology more intricately and expansively given its current vision.

Controversial author, J.K. Rowling, who has been in the news quite a bit in the recent few years has announced her attachment to the developing project. Whether she will serve as a creative consultant on the reboot or hold the title and authority of an executive producer is yet to be disclosed. Nonetheless, Rowling’s involvement has drawn the ire and criticism of the community who have vocally spoken out against her comments a few years prior that were globally interpreted as transphobic and inflammatory.
Harry PotterReboot Could Reel in the Original Series Trio
It is a known fact thatHarry Potterhas become synonymous withDaniel Radcliffe,Emma Watson, andRupert Grint. Other stars likeTom Felton, Bonnie Wright, and Robbie Coltrane have virtually become associated with the franchise as well. And as such, it would serve as a great loss if, at the end of the reboot series, a skip into the future couldn’t show the actors in their new and settled lives in the world of wizards and muggles.

Rupert Grint who portrays Ron Weasley, for one, has already shown an interest in returning to the sets ofHarry Potter. The actor has also spoken up about revisiting his character and going for a ninth film in the series“if the timing was right and everyone was kinda coming back.”However, the titular hero himself doesn’t share the same sentiments. Daniel Radcliffe claimed in an interview withThe New York Times:
“I’m really happy with where I am now, and to go back would be such a massive change to my life. I’m never going to say never, but the Star Wars guys had like 30, 40 years before they went back. For me, it’s only been 10. It’s not something I’m really interested in doing right now.”

However, considering how the cast had come back for their 20th-anniversary feature, a special epilogue comprising a nostalgic throwback story or a futuristic peek into the lives of the infamous trio would not be entirely out of the range of possibility. But as far as a ninthHarry Potterfilm is concerned, David Zaslav is going to have a hard time convincing the trio to get back on board, especially given how in the recent past, the actors have opened up about their traumatic memories of the childhood and adolescent years they have spent under the brutal light of exposure and fame.
TheHarry Potterfilm series is available for streaming on HBO Max.
