So the speculation that had been raised earlier revolved around perhaps the actor choosing to focus more on movies instead of TV shows. That, however, does not seem to be the case.

Henry Cavill Had Creative Differences With The Producers Of The Witcher
According to sources,Henry Cavillhas been wanting to leaveThe Witcherever since the post-production of season 2. He had planned on this departure due to not having matching views with the producers of the show. He seemed to have been dissatisfied with the direction the show had been taking.
Potential creative disagreements have been a major topic of conversation concerning The Witcher and Cavill’s departure, although there hasn’t been any proof of such assertions up until now. Although Cavill has frequently voiced his love for CD Projekt Red’s video games and Andrzej Sapkowski’s books, he has not made his reasons for leaving the role of Geralt of Rivia known in the public eye. Many people have cited several insignificant remarks he made in numerous interviews about wanting to tell a story that honors Sapkowski’s work.
“Some of the writers were not or actively disliked the books and games, even actively mocking the source material.”

Henry Cavill Used To Pitch In For Geralt
Cavill helped shape how Geralt is portrayed in the show, according to showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich. She disclosed in 2021 that Cavill will communicate with her over the portrayal of the titular monster slayer on television.
“A lot of the notes he was sending to me were about Geralt’s dialogue — could he, first of all, say more.”
She continued to explain how Henry Cavill had been highly enthusiastic about his character and how his love for Geralt and the games brings more life to the show itself.
“The toughest part for me was finding that balance between the showrunners’ vision and my love for the books, and trying to bring that Geralt to the showrunners’ vision.”He went on to elaborate,“All of my asks and requests were along the lines of just being faithful to the source material.”
Although it still stands to be unclear how exactly the actor came to bid farewell to the show, he has parted ways with the crew in all good terms, and welcomes Hemsworth with open arms, leaving the sword ready for the actor to pick up.
Henry Cavill’s final season ofThe Witcherwill air on Netflix in the summer of 2023.
