It’s that time of the year again, where rumours of a huge AAA game from days gone by rise to either be proven correct, or as nothing more than wasteful conjecture. This time though, there’s more than a few things indicating that the long-rumouredRed Dead Redemption Remakeis more real than the average rumour.

First, we had the South Korean ratings board leaking a new rating choice for aRed Dead Redemptiongame. Odd, considering it originally came out and was rated back in 2010. We doubt they’d waste their time re-rating the same game that’s been out thirteen years, but we could be wrong.

Now, we have a trusted and in-the-know leaker confirming the existence of the game, claiming to have been sent and seen evidence that theRed Dead Redemption Remakeis out there and still in development.
Red Dead Redemption Remake – Not the First Time We’ve Heard This
After the resounding success ofRed Dead Redemption 2,fans have been begging Rockstar to bring out a remake/remaster ofRed Dead Redemption. The poorly received and developed remaster of theGrand Theft Auto Trilogyhas done little to dampen these requests, and over the years various things have pointed to its existence.
A few years ago it was touted that the game was under development, with Rockstar fully aware of the buzz around any potential remake/remaster, and wanted to capitalise on that. However, that rumour was then followed by one saying it had been canceled, but that now seems unlikely, and in the case of ex-Kinda Funny co-host and former IGN editor Colin Moriarty, flat out wrong, as the game was given more time to be developed after the state of the aforementioned trilogy remaster.

Regarding actual proof and evidence of the existence of the remake, Moriarty said on an episode of his Sacred Symbols podcast.

“I can say I have seen confirmation that this is real. I don’t think you need this confirmation, but I had someone reach out to me behind the scenes that showed me something that definitively shows this game is coming. Maybe even imminently with an announcement maybe in like August. So, not a huge surprise, you don’t need to tell you that South Korean ratings board doesn’t just rate things. They rate things that are submitted to them.”
If for some reason all of this is fake, and there is indeed no remake/remaster on the horizon, it’s odd to think we’ll end up with remakes and remasters of the lesser quality and far less successfulL.A Noire, but not aRed Dead Redemption Remake. With all the buzz for Rockstar between this and the upcomingGrand Theft Auto 6,it appears the company is going to be incredibly busy going forward, and with those two games, and potentially a thirdRed Dead, they’re in a position to essentially print money.
