Matt Damon Once Agreed To Play Daredevil

Before Ben Affleck’s involvement, his close friend Matt Damon was presented with the opportunity to portray Daredevil. Despite his enthusiasm for the role of the blind lawyer, Damon, citing his lack of previous collaboration with the movie’s director Mark Steven Johnson, ultimately decided to pass on the opportunity.

Damon toldThe Daily News:

“For [me and Ben] it was always ‘Daredevil’ — that’s the comic we read when we were kids. But when that one came along I chickened out, because I couldn’t tell. I hadn’t seen the director’s work and I didn’t know. So I just said, ‘No.’ Ben [Affleck] was like, ‘I gotta do it… If Chris Nolan came up to me and said, ‘I want to do Daredevil,’ I would be in.”

Damon’s decision to pass on the role proved to be a wise one, as it turned out thatDaredevil, released in 2003, received unfavorable reviews and failed to win over both critics and the audience.
