Mark Wahlberg Says Hollywood Is Not A Fan Of Religious Materials

Mark Wahlberg’s faith has long guided him in his acting career. As a reformed person, he also had regrets about his past projects that did not align with his beliefs. He has previously expressed embarrassment over his role in Paul Thomas Anderson’sBoogie Nights.

The actor notably spent millions of dollars trying to bring his own 2022 religious dramaFather Stuto life. He remarked how no one wanted to buy his script because Hollywood is not fond of faith-based material. He toldInsider:

“I slipped the script to a couple of people that I thought maybe would get it, and they didn’t. And obviously, it’s subjective. You have your own feeling of what the material is. Some people thought it was depressing because he’s sick at the end. They didn’t see the heart and the emotion and, ultimately, how inspiring it is.”

His six-year journey trying to bring his passion project to life later paid off after earning $21.8 million against a production budget of $4 million.
