Iman Vellani hints at Ms. Marvel’s supremacy

Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel

“I think the quality I wasn’t expecting was how much of a leader she is. She’s, I think, the most emotionally intelligent, the most mature out of the Marvels, I would say.”

Honestly, the Canadian-based star did justify the statement about Kamala Khan inThe Marvels. Here are 5 reasons how:

Iman Vellani in Ms Marvel

1. Emotionally intelligent/stable one

The youngest hero of the group, Ms. Marvel managed to keep her calm amid rising tension. Whereas, the other two adult heroes in the group, Captain Marvel and Monica Rambeau, held past grudges against one another whilst on a space mission. That could have jeopardized the whole mission.

2. The glue that kept The Marvels unified

Vellani rightly pointed out that even though Kamala found herself in between two adult women who had a bad history, she did not panic. Ms. Marvel kept them together and in Vellani’s words,

“Even though she is much younger, she’s very much the glue of the group.”

The Marvels (2023)

An MCU fanatic herself, Vellani’s character revolves around a teenage mutant whose primary superpower rests in her great-grandmother’s bangle.

3. Fearless to give her opinion

Despite being in a crisis, Ms. Marvel was brave enough to give her piece of mind to Captain Marvel. The character is firm in doing the right thing. Like inThe Marvels,Captain Marvel left the others behind to die during the Skull evacuation from Tarnax, but Ms. Marvel kept her ground. Vellani highlighted in the interview,

“She’s standing between the tension of two grown women, adult women, and they have years of history and experience under their belts, yet she doesn’t shy away from giving her opinion.”

This, in turn, depicts another impressive characteristic of Kamala that shall be put to good use in the MCU future.

4. Natural-born leader

Apart from Ms. Marvel’s nerdy persona, the youngster shall be portrayed as a great leader in the future. Vellani claimed Kamala is a natural leader and does not fear to make decisions based on her understanding. She added,

“She doesn’t shy away from making the tough call, making choices under pressure, and I think that’s something I really love about Kamala.”

Kamala’s inexperience does not hinder her superhero responsibilities while Captain Marvel and Rambeau are already established in the superhero world.

5. Values human life

The most unique aspect of Vellani’s character is that she understands humans. Kamala leans more toward the human race than her superhero world. Surrounded by the strings of family, culture, and her religious community, Kamala values human life the most. The people that she loves and cares for, kind of, make her entire personality. On the other hand, Carol Danvers is a solitary lady with a cat and amnesia.
