To give the audience an Easter Egg, reboots often feature cameos from past stars. Sadly,Angelina Jolie, who portrayed Lara Croft in the first twoTomb Raidermovies in the early 2000s, was unable to make a cameo appearance in the 2018Tomb Raiderreboot film.
In an interview with CinemaBlend,Tomb Raiderproducer Graham King explained,

He also said,

“The studios, of course, said, ‘Is there a way to get Angie? Should we try and have her kind of baton over this kind of thing?’
“And I understand it for marketing and studios or whatever, but that never felt organic to our film. Something like that can tip the balance.”
