Despite being one of the most popularStar Warsprojects ever,The Mandalorian Season 3couldn’t impress many fans of the franchise. Considering the popularity of the past two seasons of the Pedro Pascal series, the latest season fails to mimic the success of its predecessors. One of the major criticisms faced by the latest season of the Disney+ series is that it ruins the ending of the much-appreciated second season.

A still from The Mandalorian Season 3

The last episode of the third season ofThe Mandalorianpremiered less than a month ago on Disney+. After its ending, the fans brought up some major flaws that described why season three couldn’t reach the heights of the past seasons. One of the most dominating points among the flaws is the ruining of Grogu’s character arc.

Grogu

DidThe MandalorianSeason 3 ruin Grogu’s character?

Grogu or ‘Baby Yoda'(As popularly known to the netizens) is one of the major reasons behindThe Mandalorian’swidespread popularity. His dynamics withPedro Pascal‘s Din Djarin is one of the primary highlights of the first two seasons until the Season 2 ending separated the two fan-favorite characters. As heartbreaking as it was for the fans to watch the duo set on different paths without each other, it was also an amazing conclusion to end the saga of Din Djarin and Grogu.

But looks like the makers had something else in their minds which certainly didn’t act well. The third season ofThe Mandalorianalong with the help ofThe Book of Bobba Fettruined the season 2 ending by bringing back the “Child” too soon. The second season of the Din Djarin series showed the ‘father-son’-esque duo searching for Grogu’s people. In the end, we got to watch an emotional moment when Grogu was taken away by Luke Skywalker for Jedi training. Although the fans were not completely unwilling to a reunion, the rushed comeback of the character in the Bobba Fett series ruined the adventures and the events of the first two seasons.

The fans criticized that the third show further ruined the chances for Grogu to become a Jedi and nullifies the beautifully emotional Season 2 conclusion. According to them, the character should have been allowed to spend some more time without each other which could have helped in both of their story arcs. The fans have also taken to Twitter to express their views against the decision taken by the makers in the third season.

The Mandalorianseason 3 attracts heavy criticism

The whole Din Djarin-Grogu comeback mess was created byThe Book of Bobba Fettseries which itself was a very underwhelming series in the intergalactic franchise. But the premiere ofThe Mandalorianseason 3 was also bashed for ruining the beautiful moment from the last season. On the other hand, some fans even blamed the makers for incorporating the major plot point of Grogu’s comeback in a different series.

After rewatching The Mandalorian in it’s entirety, it’s clear that something went wrong.

S2 was Din’s mission to return Grogu to a Jedi. After an intense season he finally completed his mission but the S3 premiere made S2 kind of pointless.

Let’s take a look at some of the reactions:

BOBF explains a lot of this, but thank you for saying this. The incongruity is pretty clear and it’s one of the things I find difficult to come to terms with.

I feel like the show easily could have ended with Season 2. Both Mando and Grogu’s arc felt like they had run their course and reached a meaningful conclusion. Season 3 felt like a rushed afterthought. Especially with Mando going back to his culty ways which undoes the S2 finale

What wasn’t clear to me is that apparently 2 years passed for Din without Grogu. I thought it was like 3 days lolll 🤣

Same thoughts 💭 here…

Yeah there’s something weird about how they just completely reversed the entire plot of Season 2 with two episodes of a different show. Almost like they couldn’t let Grogu get written out or something

They had a show loved by the mass majority of fans that brought the community together, they ended S2 in the coolest possible way.. i thought they were setting up a Luke show with Grogu and a solo season at least for Din but nah they messed that up in an almost comical way.

Undoubtedly, a large chunk of the fandom shares a common belief that Grogu’s character arc didn’t receive justified treatment. Besides it, the third season also suffered many other weaknesses such as a rushed storyline, and the primary focus being shifted from Din Djarin and Grogu to Bo-Katan. Some critics also complained that the show focused on connecting to other lores of the galaxy far far away which was not a total success.
