“There’s something really fun about it. It’s like having love affairs after a marriage. You’re there and then it’s over. It’s very refreshing to put things down you know you won’t pick up again.”

It must have been refreshing for Hall to play a killer with different shades and motivations. The assurance and awareness of the full arc of the character must also have been a welcome change for the actor.

Michael C. Hall Addresses His Return in A PossibleDexterSpinoff Project

Michael C. Hall returned as Dexter Morgan in 2021’sDexter: New Blood, eight years after the lackluster finale of the originalDexterseries. The series was canceled after its first season and since then, two spinoff projects were announced including one which centers on the character’s son and another which focuses on his origins.

Hall talked about the possibility of returning with either of these spinoffs at a Q&A event at Steel City Con. He said,(viaComicbook.com)

“I do not think it would be a good idea for me to play a young Dexter at this point [laughs]. I think that ship sailed even before we started shooting the show, but I’m open to the possibility of being involved. It’s all kind of theoretical at this point, but I’m curious to see what they come up with… I’ve learned to never say never, but I feel like any further exploration of the world of Dexter is probably going to happen on TV screen, though they make movie things for TV.”

It remains to be seen whether Hall returns in a futureDexter-relatedproject. For now, his tenure as the notorious serial killer came to an end with the new revival series.
