It’s because he’s really obsessed with details and wants everything perfect, which has also caused some issues earlier on the sets he worked on.
Avatar, lead star Sam Worthington, andTrue Liesactor Arnold Schwarzenegger also expressed their concerns about working with the director earlier.
Cameron even threatened to fire some of his actors (multiple times) if they wanted to take a bathroom break. But this strict rule resulted in a significant incident on the sets ofTitanic.

James Cameron Threatened Actors Over Bathroom Breaks onTitanicSet
James Cameronis a dedicated director who dislikes taking breaks in the middle of his work. An article from 1997 inTimereported that“crew members say Cameron often kept them going as long as 10 hours without pause.”
That’s what happened once on the set ofTitanic. While filming the lifeboat scenes in the movie, the director made this strict and somewhat unconventional demand.
He threatened to fire anyone who needed a bathroom break and attempted to exit the water tank where the scenes were being filmed.
As a result, both the lead actors,Kate WinsletandLeonardo DiCaprio, had to relieve themselves in the water rather than leave the tank to use the restroom.

A lot of stuff went wrong throughout the production ofTitanic. One such disaster was when actors and extras working on the movie couldn’t even take bathroom breaks. The reason? Because the director was strict about the schedule and didn’t plan time for breaks.
Since he didn’t allow it, it doesn’t mean the actors let it pass. They decided to pee in the big water tank on the set. Actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet even admitted to doing it.
Because of this incident, Winslet once said that she’d need a lot of money to work with Cameron again. It is because the director has quite a “temper.”
