DC Studios co-CEO and writer of the movieSuperman: Legacyis all set for the new version of Superman. The movie revolves around the early life of Superman, from being a commoner like Clark Kent to discovering his roots. The film will focus on the youth superhero and his life at the time. The plot details have been kept under wraps, and as per reports, the casting is yet to start.

In a recent interview, James Gunn opened up on the sentiment he wishes to portray for the movie. The director of the film wanted to keep its emotional aspect.

The role of Superman was played by ace actor Henry Cavill fromMan of Steelin 2013 tillBlack Adamin 2022. The British actor won the hearts of his fans with his fabulous acting and action sequences. Cavill played the dark version of the fan-favorite comic book action star Superman in his DC movies. However, in the upcoming filmSuperman: Legacy, the writer Gunn wishes to bring forth another emotion of the caped savior.

“The next Superman has to be someone who has all the humanity that Superman has but he’s also an alien”

“It’s gotta be somebody who has the kindness and the compassion that Superman has and be somebody who you want to give a hug.”

The cast of James Gunn’sSuperman: Legacy

As stated earlier by directorJames Gunnand Superman actorHenry Cavill, the new movie will have a younger actor as the lead. Henry Cavill is officially not part of the project.

The Hollywood Reporter shared thatDavid Corenswet, who recently starred inPearlalongside Mia Goth is among the top contenders, for the role of a journalist and Son of Krypton. As per reports, he has reached the screen test stage, which will take place the next month. Two other actors are also considered for the parts, but their names are yet to be revealed.

The role of Lois Lane, a Daily Planet reporter, and Superman’s lady love, was earlier essayed byAmy Adamsin theMan Of Steel. Lane will also have a new face inSuperman: Legacy. As per the reports,Sex Educationfame Emma Mackey, Emmy-award-winning actress Rachel Brosnahan fromThe Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,Bridgertonactress Phoebe Dynevor, andScream VIactress Samara Weaving are in the run for playing the female lead in James Gunn’s project.

Superman: Legacywill have a global theatrical release on July 07, 2025.
