The Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress has been won by Lupita Nyong’o for her impressive performance in12 Years a Slave.As has become her custom, she gave another stirring speech that brought British actor Benedict Cumberbatch to tears.

She said this in reference to Patsey’s tale, the character she played, who was an enslaved woman in the movie adaptation of Solomon Northup’s autobiography(Twelve Years a Slave).

“It doesn’t escape me for one moment that so much joy in my life is thanks to someone else’s pain. No matter where you are from, your dreams are valid.”

Lupita Nyong’o, who last appeared inBlack Panther: Wakanda Foreveris preparing to join a new movie franchise just a few weeks after making her return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Academy Award winner is reportedly in final negotiations to star inA Quiet Place: Day One, according to Deadline. Michael Sarnoski, who directed the moviePig, has been tapped to helm the prequel spin-off of theA Quiet Placeseries.

Given that she is experienced with the horror subgenre, Nyong’o seems like the ideal choice for this spin-off.

Having joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) inBlack Pantherand theStar WarsUniverse inStar Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens,the Kenyan-Mexican actress is also no stranger to being a part of a major franchise. Her other projects includeThe Jungle Book, Queen of Katwe,and12 Years a Slave.
