The laughter began whenJennifer Lawrence,who had learned of the misunderstanding, stepped in to set the record straight. In an interview onThe Late Show, Lawrence explained how she, who has a reputation for being charming and approachable, clarified what the GOAT actually meant.
“Meryl kind of said, ‘That’s right, just tell the old goat where to go,’ and I was like, ‘Meryl, you know that “GOAT” means Greatest of All Time, right?’ And she was like, ‘Oh no’, this whole time she was just like, ‘Oh well, you know, like an old goat.'”
