Late actor Chadwick Boseman became the representative of thousands of people when he starred as King T’Challa a.k.a Black Panther in the MCU filmBlack Panther. The Ryan Coogler directorial was lauded upon release and was even nominated for an Oscar for Best Picture. The film also earned $1.3 billion at the box office globally.

While Boseman was all set to return in the sequelBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever,he sadly passed away due to complications with colon cancer and Marvel decided not to cast any actor as his replacement. With the new animated seriesEyes of Wakandaannounced, Marvel can bring back the Black Panther elegantly without tarnishing his memory.

ActorChadwick Bosemanmade his MCU debut as Black Panther in the 2016 superhero filmCaptain America: Civil War. Boseman’s T’Challa becomes involved in the feud between the Avengers when he is led to believe that Bucky Barnes a.k.a the Winter Soldier is responsible for his father’s death.

Boseman reportedly did not audition for the role but discussed how to best bring out the character with Marvel Studios. He reprised his role in the solo filmBlack Pantherwhich was directed by Ryan Coogler. The film became the first superhero film to be nominated for an Oscar and the film employed a predominantly Black cast and crew. The film won two Oscars.

Chadwick Boseman’s performance as King T’Challa has been lauded for perfectly embodying the royalty and elegance of the Wakandan king. The film was also appreciated for its treatment of the antagonist, Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger. Boseman revealed that he related more to the character of Killmonger as he too was severed from his roots.

Boseman reprised the role inAvengers: Infinity WarandAvengers: Endgame. The latter became one of the highest-grossing films of all time and saw the culmination of eleven years of MCU films. He also reprised the role for the final time in the Disney Plus seriesWhat If…?, where he played Star-Lord in an alternative universe.

Marvel Can Bring Back Black Panther InEyes Of Wakanda

After the untimely passing of Chadwick Boseman, Marvel Studios decided not to recast the role of T’Challa as his portrayal was so iconic. His presence lingered in the sequel to the filmBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever, which saw Letitia Wright’s Shuri take on the mantle of Black Panther.

Recently, Marvel announced the animated Disney Plus seriesEyes of Wakanda. The series comes in lieu of a live-action series on Wakanda that was in development during the production ofBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever. Producer Nate Moore hinted at the show and was transparent about its fruition while promoting the sequel.

While no cast and plot have been revealed,Eyes of Wakandacan be the perfect opportunity to bring back King T’Challa and the Black Panther in animated form. The iconic character had only two films (and two cameo appearances) to be deeply explored before being retired due to Boseman’s passing.

Casting another actor to voice the role of King T’Challa would be an elegant way to bring back the iconic character without replacing the legendary performance of Chadwick Boseman.
