The best thing about watching a film is the anticipation and wait the audience has to go through until its release date as it builds up the excitement even more. And with the release of the long-awaited Christopher Nolan directorialOppenheimer, the crowd of cine-goers that were patiently holding their breaths can take a breath of relief.

With Irish actor and long-time collaborator Cillian Murphy by the director’s side, the film has shocked and mesmerized the audience worldwide. And although every praise that it gets is from a place of the highest regard, there are also a lot of questions about some choices that were taken by the director during the shoot, specifically, the intimate scene that the lead star shared with Florence Pugh in the film.
Cillian Murphy Justifies The S*x Scene InOppenheimer
The creation of a major Hollywood film has to take into consideration many implications and the results that it will bring to the reception of the final product. Therefore, while most of the artistic expression of the director has to be laid out in front of the camera to bring their vision into reality, there may be some choices that people may not understand. A fine example can be derived fromChristopher Nolan‘s latest filmOppenheimer, where the actors had to perform a love-making scene and people are just trying to wrap their head around it.
In a recent interview with the film’s lead starCillian Murphy, who plays the role of the titular physicist, the actor was bombarded with questions about the film as well as the experience that everyone had on set, including him. Here, one of the more burning questions that were asked was about the controversial s*x scene which also featuredFlorence Pugh, and why was it put in the final product. ThePeaky Blindersstar replied to this, saying that although it may seem unnecessary, there is a reason it was there. He said:

“I think they were vital in this in this movie. I think the relationship that he has with Jean Tatlock is one of the most crucial emotional parts of the film. I think if they’re key to the story then they’re worthwhile. Listen, no one likes doing them, they’re the most awkward possible part of our job. But sometimes you have to get on with it.”
And rightfully so, as even in the books of history, the scientist’s relationship with his lover had a profound impact on his character in the future.

Why IsOppenheimerGetting So Much Love?
Apart from the controversy surrounding the aforementioned intimate scene, the film is receiving an absolutely exceptional degree of respect and reverence from the audience. From the quality of the film in the format it’s shot in, to the captivating way of the narration and cinematography that the director has brought to the table, and not to mention, the outstanding performance that the stars have delivered is bound to bring the recognition that the film is receiving.
