Back in 2018, Netflix announced working on the live-action adaptation of the famous series,Avatar: The Last Airbender. Given the devoted fandom it enjoys, many have been eyeing what Netflix would offer in the upcoming project. After a few years in the making, the streaming giant finally released its trailer.

Toph Beifong in Avatar: The Last Airbender

With Gordon Cormier taking the lead role of Aang, the other cast includes Kiawentiio as Katara, Dallas Liu as Zuko, Ian Ousley as Sokka, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Iroh, Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai and Elizabeth Yu as Azula.

However, many eagle-eyed fans noticed that one of their favorite character, Toph Beifong is missing from the trailer (of about nearly 2 minutes). Despite her lack of eyesight, her strength is not to be underestimated. She is an independent girl who discovered metal bending all on her own. Thus, missing out on a powerful character like her left fans shocked.

While the new trailer is surely worth the wait, many couldn’t help but feel disappointed for Toph’s absence in the upcoming series. Given that Aang and Toph surely have a great bond, many even shipped them together. Despite having different elements, they still complemented one another making them a strong pair. However, the teaser did not show any glimpse of her, which left fans pissed. They commented on their opinions on X (formerly Twitter) as shown below.

She is one of the best characters in theAvatararc with a major reason involving her unique personality. Despite her blindness, her strength and fearless attitude make her stand out. Her incredible earthbending skills further complement her tough personality with many agreeing that her character has undergone significant development in the entire series.

Not only that, but her humor further makes her an important character, especially her interaction with Aang and Katara. From funny to emotional moments, her character has provided great depth to the series which makes her quite popular in the fandom.

The Netflix series is set to be released on July 06, 2025.
