The Marvel Cinematic Universe, once revered as the premier outlet for fans to be amazed by the characters from the pages of Marvel Comics, has slowly been declining in popularity. After a string of box office disappointments, its biggest bust on the commercial front came in the form of the recently releasedThe Marvels.

Despite having a compelling storyline, along with good execution and amazing character portrayal from the talented leads, the film failed to make its appeal widespread, which has led to it heading on the path to becoming the lowest-grossing MCU project ever. Thus, fans are letting their concerns be known, telling the studios to stop wasting time on heroes that nobody wants.
The MarvelsIs Set To Become The Lowest-Grossing MCU Film Of All Time
While we may have been hearing about the reports from box office analysts and industry insiders about how the opening weekend of the then-upcomingThe Marvelswas not looking good. But no one could’ve expected that an MCU film would have such an abysmal performance on the commercial side of things.
Even with established stars likeBrie LarsonandIman Vellanileading the charge, the state of the film is now in dire straits.

After the recent box office numbers for the film came in, it is almost confirmed that it will be the lowest-grossing film by Marvel Studios ever since the franchise’s inception in 2008 with only $197 million globally at this point. While it may be a new low for the studio, its previous few projects have also suffered the same fate, with films likeEternalsandAnt-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.

Thus, many have taken to X to voice their concerns.

As many fans suggest, Marvel Studios should treat this as a reminder for them to put more thought into the franchise going forward rather than sticking to providing overwhelming content to their fans.
