The new generation of Fighting Games is upon us, and just now, theTekken 8demo has officially been announced by the game’s X/Twitter account. With games likeStreet Fighter 6andMortal Kombat 1already out, it’s exciting to see whatTekken 8will be bringing to the table.
Previously,Tekken 8had two Closed Tests, namely the Closed Network Test (CNT), and the Closed Beta Test (CBT). These two were only available to a limited number of applicants, who registered early and got a code to try out the game.
But the great thing about this demo right off the bat is that it will be available for all. So, you won’t have to preregister or anything of the sort.
The Tekken 8 Demo Comes Out First on the PS5
Once again, Bandai Namco is favoring Sony, as it plans to release theTekken 8demo on PS5 first before eventually releasing it for Xbox Series X|S and PC. The release dates for each individual platform are as follows:
The demo releasing on PS5 a whole week before Xbox Series X|S and PC isn’t anything new, as the Closed Network Test (CNT) was also available to PlayStation users a week before the others.
But unlike the Network Test and the Beta Test before it, the demo seems to be available indefinitely, which means there’s no specified time for when you start and end your session.

This is great because it’ll allow pretty much everyTekkenand non-Tekkenenthusiast to try out the newest instalment before their purchase. A lot of fans were frustrated that they didn’t get codes for the previous two tests, so this solves that problem.
The Tekken 8 Demo Focuses Primarily on Offline and Single-Player Content
The official X/Twitter account forTekkenalso revealed some of the content that we can expect from the upcoming demo.

Tekken 8continues the story from the cliffhanger at the end ofTekken 7, where Kazuya Mishima’s battle with Heihachi Mishima threw the world into disarray, with only Jin Kazama capable enough to stop it all.
With this demo, players will be able to experience the first chapter of the story mode, titled The Dark Awakens, and get a taste for what the final game will have to offer. Based on what we’ve seen so far, it seems that this first chapter will focus on the initial fight between Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima, though nothing has been confirmed.
You’ll also be able to try out the Arcade Quest mode, the genre-defining Super Ghost Battle, and even get a glimpse at the game’s incredible gallery.
For those who may not be as invested in the story, the demo will also include an Offline Versus mode, which will probably end up being where you spend most of your time.
The demo will allow you to play as Jin, Kazuya, Nina, and Paul, who have been franchise staples ever since they were introduced. The previous tests did give you access to a chunk of the roster, but they seem to be going a little lighter with the publicly available demo, asStreet Fighter 6did.
Stages included are Sanctum, Urban Square (Evening), and Yakushima, all of which were previously available in the tests. The demo will take up about 28GB of space, which is quite a lot, but it’s quite a step down from the game’s confirmed 100GB size.
ManyTekkenfans would love to be able to play as the newer and updated characters that weren’t available in the tests, such as Reina, Victor, Steve, Dragunov, and Leo. But it seems that players will have to be a bit more patient when it comes to that and wait for the full release on June 04, 2025.
