Tim Burton is one of the most interesting directors in the Hollywood industry. Whether it relates to animation or live-action, there is no piece of work that has ever been as interestingly directed as his own. Films likeCorpse Bride, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,andBatmanwere all creations of his that shined in an iconic manner. In a time nearing that of Halloween, it is only natural to look back at some of his works.

Interestingly enough, there is one movie that has his name all over it –Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas.The movie is widely known and just as magnificently liked. However, it is not Burton’s work that shines in a way fans would presume. In fact, the film was not directed by Burton at all. Instead, it was Henry Selick who brought along such a cult classic film.

Tim Burton Got Credit for Something He Did Not Do

There are many movies withTim Burton‘s name. Various that he has taken credit for and rightfully deserves to do so. His unique outlook on moviemaking has given rise to some of the most intriguing films for both children and adults alike. Out of the many films he has gotten credit for, one is unfairly shining out.Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmasis a classic tale loved by people of all ages. Despite having his name on it, it was not Burton who directed it. As perOmidfilmsof YouTube, that was a tactic for Disney to make the film sell more.

Henry Selick, the mind behind the visualization of films likeCoralineandWendell & Wild,also happened to be the director of the film. However, because of the name on the title, it was as if Burton had completely overshadowed Selick and taken his credit for it.

Disney’s Tendancy to Twist with its Publicity and Marketing

The reason for adding Tim Burton’s name to the film was purely a publicity stunt for Disney. They wanted a bigger audience forTim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmasand with it, the best way they found was to add his name, neglecting those who also contributed to the film. Although it was Burton’s story, there is no mention of Henry Selick.

Disney often takes unusual and unimpressive ways of publicizing and marketing their movies in ways that even the actors do not appreciate times. A similar incident also took place with Robin Williams when working with the company forAladdin.Despite his wanting to remain away from the marketing and merchandizing of the film, Disney found a way to bend the contract to their advantage.
