OnePlus 13T Ditches Alert Slider for Shortcut Key
OnePlus has taken the wraps off its latest compact flagship, the OnePlus 13T. It shares a lot of similarities with its bigger sibling, theOnePlus 13.
Interestingly, it is the first phone released by OnePlus after itsdecision to ditch the alert slider. So what does it have instead?

Well, you get a customizable shortcut button (Quick Key) that looks and works eerily similar to the one on iPhones. you may use it to open the flashlight, toggle do not disturb, switch between sound/ vibrate, open the camera, record audio, or open any app you want.
OnePlus 13T Specifications
Powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite, the OnePlus 13T claims to have an AnTuTu score of over 3 million. It comes with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.
For sustained performance, there is a 4400 mm vapor cooling chamber and a heat dissipation area of 37,000 mm. There is also a special nano ice crystal coolant that should help in cooling it down faster.

Speaking about the display, the OnePlus 13T has a 6.32-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. You also get a 120Hz refresh rate and 1600 nits of peak brightness.
There is a new P2 display chip, and OnePlus claims that the 13T supports 120 FPS natively in most games. Unlike the OnePlus 13, you get a completely flat screen instead of a quad curved one.

For optics, there is a dual camera setup on the back, which has a 50-megapixel primary and a 50-megapixel telephoto lens. In addition, you get a 16-megapixel selfie camera.
The OnePlus 13T has a massive battery for a compact phone at 6,260mAh battery which is even bigger than the OnePlus 13T. Furthermore, the phone comes with 80W SUPERVOOC charging, although there is no wireless charging support.

Other features include an IP65 rating, a glass back, new Wi-Fi G1 chip. OnePlus claims there are 11 antennas for 360-degree coverage.
What’s Changed Compared to the OnePlus 13?
For starters, the OnePlus 13T has a smaller display with a flat panel instead of a quad curved one. The 13T uses an optical fingerprint sensor instead of an ultrasonic one. Moreover, the screen on the OnePlus 13 is also brighter at 4500 nits and sharper with a 2K resolution instead of a 1.5K one.
The 13T also skips out on the 50-megapixel ultrawide angle sensor. Furthermore, the telephoto lens on the 13T has 2x zoom instead of 3x on the OnePlus 13.
Similarly, the 13 can shoot 8K videos at 30 FPS while the 13T is only capable of shooting 4K at 60 FPS. Another area where OnePlus is cutting down costs is the selfie camera.
The OnePlus 13 has a 32-megapixel one while the 13T gets a 16-megapixel one. Not to mention that the OnePlus has collaborated with Hasselblad to fine-tune the primary cameras on the 13.
Design is another area where OnePlus is saving costs by opting for a glass back instead of a vegan leather one. The 13T has a lower IP65 rating instead of IP69 on the OnePlus 13.
The OnePlus 13T misses out on wireless charging, most likely due to its smaller size. It also has slower 80W wired charging compared to 100W on the OnePlus 13.
The good thing is that the OnePlus 13T is smaller and lighter than its elder sibling. Despite packing a bigger 6,250mAh battery, it weighs only 185 grams and is just 8.2mm thick. The 13T also has flat sides and rounded corners, just like the iPhones.
While the OnePlus 13 follows the design language of OnePlus with the massive circular camera on the back, the 13T opts for a unique look. It is reminiscent of the iPhone 16, although with a square camera module that is relatively flatter.

OnePlus 13T Price and Availability: Will It Launch Internationally?
The OnePlus 13T will go on sale in Morning Misty Gray, Heart Pounding Pink, and Cloudy Ink Black. Sadly, the launch of the 13T is limited only to China as of now, and OnePlus hasn’t shared any details about its international launch.
Although rumours suggest that OnePlus 13T could debut in India as the OnePlus 13s. Maybe OnePlus wants to market the smaller form factor by adding an “s” to its name. The only question that remains is whether it will be cheaper than the OnePlus 13R, and if yes, then how will OnePlus justify it?
Here is the launch price of the OnePlus 13T:
It’s great to see brands catering to those who prefer a compact flagship as phones get bigger day by day. Another thing worth noting is that this is the first model in the OnePlus T series after two years.
The last phone in the OnePlus T series was the OnePlus 10T, which made its debut in 2022. Interestingly, it was the OnePlus phone without an alert slider that led to a lot of criticism. The company hasn’t seemed to have learned a lesson since it has removed the alert slider on the 13T for a shortcut button.
Previous models in the T series were known to improve upon the number series with better specs. However, the brand has now shifted focus to offering compact phones in its T series.
If OnePlus decides to launch the OnePlus 13T globally, it will compete with other compact flagships. These include the Samsung Galaxy S25, Xiaomi 15, Vivo X200 mini, and the Oppo Find X8s.
