Tom Hiddleston’s journey as Loki seemingly reached a glorious conclusion at the end ofLokiseason 2. The character received the most emotionally satisfying arc of all the MCU characters while also giving audiences a thought-provoking evolution from a selfish antagonist to a selfless messiah. Needless to say, Loki has become everyone’s favorite hero by the end of the series.

The finale ofLokiseason 2 had many memorable moments, one being the scene where Loki decides to fix the loom himself and bids farewell to his friends. The dialogue in the scene felt familiar and it turns out Hiddleston had improvised the line from one of his earlier MCU appearances for that particular moment.

Tom Hiddleston ImprovisedLokiSeason 2’s Most Heart-Wrenching Moment
Tom Hiddleston‘s Loki fulfilled his glorious purpose by saving the multiverse and becoming the new Time-Keeper. The finale of the second season ofLokiprovided audiences with an emotional ride for the character and some heart-wrenching goodbyes.
Loki saying goodbye to his friends before he steps out to fix the overloading branches proved to be one of the most heartbreaking moments of the show. At the end of the speech he says,“For you, for all of us”. It turns out that Hiddleston improvised these lines to create a full-circle moment for the character.

This same line was delivered by Hiddleston when speaking to his father Odin after he failed in his evil schemes in the firstThor and Hiddleston wanted to make a callback to the beginning of the character. Justin Benson, the director of the series talked about this aspect onComicbook.comsaying,
“Actually, that line was something we were working with on the day and it didn’t originally have the callback to Thor and Tom as we were doing a lot of takes of it because we knew it was his last line in the show and Tom said, ‘What if we did a callback to the very beginning?’ We did, I think one take of it and we were like, that’s it.”

Hiddleston used the same dialogue at different points in Loki’s life. InThor, he uttered these lines to save himself from the wrath of his father. But inLokiseason 2, he utters the dialogue after going through a complex evolution into a messiah and in his efforts to save the multiverse. Hence, the usage of the dialogue this time proved to be more cathartic and emotionally resonant.

Tom Hiddleston Teases the Possibility of Reviving Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man
Lokiseason 2 introduced the powerful concept of time-slipping where Loki could travel between the past, present, and future. This allowed him to make changes and create new possibilities according to his desires and pursuits in the series. This led to some fans creating some theories regarding how Loki can revive some dead characters including Tony Stark.
In an appearance onThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Tom Hiddleston was asked whether Loki’s newfound powers can be used to revive Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man. While he did not provide a direct answer, he teased some exciting possibilities through the use of time-slipping. Hiddleston said,
“I mean, time-slipping, technically gives Loki some interesting moves he can make. I suppose, yeah, he can move from past, present, future. I know that I can time-slip. I don’t know that other characters can time-slip.
Speaking for myself, Loki’s died a few times. I’m still here. I don’t know that death is necessarily… I mean death is — death is up for grabs, as an existential question. That’s all I can give you.”
It remains to be seen how Loki’s newfound powers will be used in the future of the MCU. All episodes of the two seasons ofLokican be streamed on Disney+.
