A match made in heaven, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man is one for the history books as his portrayal of the role has left an indelible mark in the memories of MCU fans around the world. Despite not being on the list for the role, his characterization of the role is so perfect that it is now impossible to think that someone else could have played the role more perfectly than him.

Robert Downey Jr. exited the MCU following the death of his character in the 2019 blockbuster,Avengers: Endgame.While his death had moved the viewers into tears, a deleted scene from the film has surfaced, where Tony Stark, Rocket Racoon, and Captain America have a hilarious scene, leading to laughs and how even serious situations can be comical when they are together.

Raccoon’s comment made Tony Stark feel agitated, and he got a trimmer. Captain America replied to him,“We didn’t know that was a…thing.”Raccoon bursts into laughter as if it were something that is known by everyone, Stark gets up and shaves his head.

“You did not know that was a thing, everyone knows…HEY!”

The scene led to a hilarious moment, and fans had a mixed response to it, as some wanted the scene to be in the film, while some found it disrespectful to humiliate Iron Man’s sacrifice in the first film.

“One of the few deleted scenes from the MCU I’m glad got deleted.”

Another fan found the scene hilarious, as Robert Downey Jr.’s character took it too personally as he almost died during the event, and the moment still haunts him to this day.

“Tony took it personally, because he was like: I almost died during this battle and the PTSD after was haunting and no Talking Racoon is gonna disrespect my efforts.”

Another fan points out how in the final battle of the film, Rocket Raccoon almost died from a Chitauri Leviathan if Stark had been a little late on snapping his fingers.

A fan mentions how they find the scene funny because Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark was having nightmares about the worst army in the galaxy.

A fan mentioned how the best part of the film is that everyone is laughing.

While everyone is sad that their favorite character died in the film, it was initially pitched thatRobert Downey Jr.’scharacter would die in the film, but he wasn’t so sure when heard it.

Robert Downey Jr. Wasn’t Convinced To Let His Character Die in The MCU

In the book, MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios, Anthony Russo mentioned how they went to Robert Downey Jr. to get his approval of Stark’s final adventure in the MCU.

“We did pitch Robert his arc, because he kicked off the entire MCU. We went over to meet with him, and we pitched it out to him. A lot of the actors are not opinionated about what we do. They like the fact that we are sort of in control of these stories and we are driving where they should go and we have a vision for where they should go and they trust in that.”

Though Robert Downey Jr. wasn’t convinced initially, he felt that the show must go on, and his character’s legacy will forever live in the franchise.

“Some of the greatest story development in the history of cinema has happened in the last five years at Marvel. I feel great about everything being in good hands. You know, the beat goes on.”

Robert Downey Jr.’s sacrifice was heartbreaking to watch but on the other hand, his departure made the film so meaningful and how Thanos became the most intimidating villain ever presented by the MCU.
