On top of being a film project by the man who reincarnated the consulting detective in the modern age, the story itself will also be adapted from the tales of Conan Doyle, and this time, it will be a good old horror story. Created as part of BBC’sA Ghost Story for Christmasseries, the project is all set to feature a Mummy from ancient Egypt.

In a recent report byDeadline,The League of Gentlemenstar will again lend his writing prowess to the British Broadcasting Corporation for their annual TV seriesA Ghost Story for Christmas.This is an anthology of adapted stories that are telecasted every year during the Holiday season, which are all made to give the audience a good fright.

This time, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s horror storyLot No. 249is set to make its appearance on the screen with theGame of Thronesstar being the main lead. The other star that has been hinted for the project is Freddie Fox popular for his role as King Louis XIII in the iconicThe Three Musketeers.

The film is set to be featured around Christmas and will be televised on BBC Channel Two. The project is being produced by Adorable Media, the company that has worked with Gatiss on several occasions in the past as well.

Originally published in 1892 in Harper’s Magazine and written by legendary author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle,Lot No. 249is a short Gothic Horror story that gave rise to the now-iconic malevolent Mummy trope in pop culture and media.

The short story tells the tale of Abercrombie Smith, a bright and upcoming student at the prestigious Oxford University. One day, his neighbor and fellow student Edward Bellingham faints, and Smith, being a medical student, is called to his room. Being an Egyptologist, Bellingham has a lot of artifacts, including an ancient Mummy. Smith later finds out that Bellingham might be using the mystical powers of the dead to commit crimes in his stead.
