Throughout his illustrious career, Leonardo DiCaprio hasn’t backed away from taking new challenges when it came to tackling wide-ranging roles, and the same was the case forThe Wolf of Wall Street.Based on Jordan Belfort’s 2007 memoir, the Scorsese-led film has cemented itself as a modern-day classic and also provided a major push to the career of a young Margot Robbie.

But adapting the memoir wasn’t always sunshine and roses for the actors, especially DiCaprio, who went to extreme lengths in order to do justice to Jordan Belfort’s story.

Being surrounded by naked women was disgusting for Leonardo DiCaprio
Leonardo DiCapriohas been involved in some iconic s*x scenes in acclaimed movies, includingTitanicandCatch Me If You Can, andThe Wolf of Wall Streetis no different. However, filming intimate sequences and being surrounded by a bunch of naked women in the movie wasn’t as romantic or arousing as fans would’ve thought. According to theTitanicstar, filming those sequences was kind of disgusting at times, claiming it was just another day’s work. He said,
“To tell you the truth it was kind of disgusting. Sometimes these sequences were you know, they weren’t very romantic, let’s put it that way. Usually, you’ve to understand when you make movies, there’s a lot of protection in there, you know, there’s also body doubles and things like that. They’re all just another day’s work, really, I mean you think more about your back hurting than any arousal.”

However, the actor didn’t compromise filming the difficult sequences, and even filmed the controversial candle sequence by himself, without the help of a body double.

Leonardo DiCaprio can go to crazy limits following his dedication to the craft, and his time filming the difficult intimate sequence inThe Wolf of Wall Streetis another testament to that. AfterMargot Robbieprovoked the actor to do the Candle sequence, DiCaprio didn’t back away from inserting a candle in his a**, showcasing his determination for the role. DiCaprio explained,
“It was all me, pal. All the flopping around, all the everything was all me. When you take on a character like this and you want to accurately reflect the nature of who these people are, you just gotta do it. you may’t think about yourself, because it’s not me, it’s a depiction of somebody else.”
